I'm in my third week at Microsoft, and things are currently in a short lull between events. I'm still working through the last few things on my "New Employee Tasklist" and exploring the twisted web of intraweb sites that exist within the corporate net.

For some reason, I routinely see groups of Japanese people taking pictures of themselves in front of the various "Microsoft" signs around campus. Somehow they must think this place is the Disneyland of Washington--the rides suck, but at least the lines are a lot shorter :>

Oh, and apparently I started working here just in time for the cafeterias to start to really suck. I keep hearing that it used to be pretty good, but at the moment the food is pretty mediocre.

The weekend was chock full of activities including a date with [livejournal.com profile] jeliza, checking out the Microsoft company picnic, the usual breakfast at Alki, and three judge prep games for Dragonflight. I'm a bit bummed that my next month's schedule meshes so poorly with [livejournal.com profile] jeliza's schedule. She and her partners are out of town the last week of August/first week of Sept, and I'm out of town much of the first half of August. It's going to be a long month. Hopefully I'll be busy enough that I won't have too much time to angst. If I get sent to the pending European events for work, it will at least be while they are still out east.
