Jun. 9th, 2004 10:25 pmIs anyone else wierded out by the amount of "pomp and circumstance" around Reagan's funeral?
It seems like there has been more coverage and 'respect for the dead' around Reagan than there has been for the thousands that were killed at the World Trade Center, or the hundreds killed in Iraq. I guess Americans have been numbed to the deaths of groups, but a single death is something that can we related to. That, and the Republican leadership is milking it for all it's worth in an election year.
Still, I'll be happy when the 24/7 coverage of the man's death is finally over. I just hope people will someday get some perspective about what the "Reagan Legacy" really has been... before they put his face on Mt. Rushmore or some such silliness (like renaming the Pentagon after him... seriously, they are proposing this!).
