Bye, Bye Beep

Well, this is my last day at Beep. I've turned in my card-key, got my last check, copied off my files, and packed up my personal effects. I was a great run, a very cool product, and a fun bunch to work with. So I'm going to head home and sit around the house for a while, go to the Drown your sorrows company party tonight, and hope that the next chapter in my career is as good as this one turned out.

Now, if only my personal life would have this kind of closure...

Holy crap everything is so loud!

So I finally got sick of this ear thing and after a week of trying home remedies went to the clinic. They removed a truly disturbing amount of ear wax from both ears and now everything is so god-damn-loud! It seems I've been living with a 90% obstruction in both ears for years now. They said my ears will be hyper-sensitive for a few hours at least, and they weren't kidding. The sound of my shirt under the seatbelt moving against my skin was creepy! The radio volume is comfortable at 25% instead of nearly 90%, the sound of my voice echoing off the windshield singing along in my car, the sound of water running far down into the drain, and my god is Koshka loud!

I was joking with drakemonger that I would be thrilled if you could go to the doctor and get cool cyber ears installed, and frankly this experience isn't far from it!

Further thought: One of the big problems with living alone for years is that nobody noticed I was getting hard of hearing.

I wish I could have the same kind of procedure done for my emotional system. Flush out all the crap, scabs, heartbreak, disappointments, feelings of betrayal, loss, and replacement. Then I might be able to sense love again, and know that it isn't as far from reach as I fear... Oh well, I suppose if it was as easy as a few gallons of water and some H2O2 everyone would be doing it.
