We had a good dinner at Republic, effectively a noodle house with NYC ambiance. We then wandered 'The Village' a while, including a quick pass by Stonewall Place, and then on to Magnolia Bakery. On a Thursday night at 9pm this place had a line with 20+ people waiting to buy...

Cupcakes!

Seriously. $1.25 ea cupcakes, limit one dozen per customer. They were tasty, and apparently a late evening tradition around here. The icing was obviously mostly confectioner's sugar, with a hint of butter. I guess in a town where nobody has a real kitchen--unless you live out on Long Island--home-made baking is a treat.

We then wandered back to Chelsea, dropped by the Whole Foods for a few groceries, and then headed back to Todd's place for the night. Apparently Whole Foods is one of the only non-union grocery stores in town, which apparently made quite a stir during the recent strikes.
