Chronicles of Riddick

The Fast and the Furian!*
Riddick was a fun, silly movie. I have to give it a lot of credit for creating a unique visual setting and staying true to it, but it is difficult to wrap your head around the idea of the main hero being a convict AND the savior of humanity, but whatever. Lots of silly humor, neato effects, pointless violence, sexy chicks, and Judy Dench for the bonus fun! Besides, Vin Diesel is a fellow D&D gamer, I have to support him :>
This one requires turning off the noggin in many places, but here are a few things I had a hard time not pondering...
In a Triple-Max no-sunlight hell-hole prison planet, where does Kyra (Alexa Davalos) get her hair done? Is the naturally curly hair kept in such good shape because of the constant heat/cold cycle?
Where does Riddick get a cup of frickin' TEA!?! while in said hell-hole prison?
How does a planet that cycles from -300 to +700 keep an oxygen/nitrogen atmosphere? Wouldn't it have enough excitation energy to escape into space? How does an oxygen-rich atmosphere exist on a planet that would destroy organic life?
If the planet is really that close to a sun and that poorly shaded from the radiation output, how come the characters don't go blind the instant it comes over the horizon?
What is an underverse and why would anyone want to go there?
The movie seems to say that it is better to have a murdering uneducated convict ruling than a religious-zealot general bent on converting or destroying all of humanity... WTF? Is there a *third* option?
In short, fun summer movie... but definitely pay matinee prices!
The reviews of the game based on the movie seem to indicate it is pretty darn cool. Given the dismal state of most movie-based games, that is quite an accomplishment. Besides, I think the 2D personalities of the movie would probably work pretty well in an interactive medium :>
