Speed Racer
Possibly one of the most ridiculous big-budget films ever made, but quite fun. The script is something scribbled on a napkin, but the actors take it seriously somehow. For the first 30 minutes, it's Short-Attention-Span theater with constant jumps back and forth in the story timeline, but it mostly settles down to more linear story-telling from there.
Young boys who love cars will love this film. I'm not actually much of a fan of racing generally. Really there's not much appeal to me for a bunch of guys blowing $10,000 of high-grade fuel going in circles. That said, if racing was even as remotely exciting and crazy as Speed Racer racing, I might be a NASCAR fan.
In fact, this film manages to create a sport that is some kind of blend of over-the-top World Wrestling Federation, NASCAR, and Rock'Em Sock'Em Robots.
And while it does not seem possible, the movie officially had Too. Much. Monkey.
On the plus-side, the Ninjas were awesome. And by awesome, I mean totally sweet.
Maybe the Wachowski Brothers can do Wacky Races next.
